چکیده
A Study of Regional Autoregulation in the Cerebral Circulation to Increased Perfusion Pressure in Normocapnia and Hypercapnia • Catheterization of Labb6's vein and of a pial branch of the middle cerebral artery has been performed on anesthetized baboons. Closure of the skull has enabled the reaction of the venous outflow from Labbe's vein to be monitored in response to pressure step increases in the pial arterial pressure induced by gas compression of a perfusion mixture connected to the arterial line. Rapid changes in cerebrovascular resistance with swift emergence of regulatory constancy have been shown, and the time characteristics of the resistance changes strongly suggest that they are primarily myogenic in origin. Induction of hypercapnia did not interfere with this autoregulatory mechanism to increased perfusion pressure, which indeed appeared to be more effective at raised arterial PCo2> but t n e mechanism was abolished by the induction of ischemia from middle cerebral occlusion. متن کاملCerebral blood flow autoregulation in early experimental S. pneumoniae meningitis.
We studied cerebral blood flow (CBF) autoregulation and intracranial pressure (ICP) during normo- and hyperventilation in a rat model of Streptococcus pneumoniae meningitis. Meningitis was induced by intracisternal injection of S. pneumoniae. Mean arterial blood pressure (MAP), ICP, cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP, defined as MAP - ICP), and laser-Doppler CBF were measured in anesthetized infe...

Background & Aims: Hypercapnia cause to increase rate of emergence time from anesthesia and decrease spontaneous breathing onset time and extubation meaningfully. The aim of this study was evaluation of e ffects induced hypercapnia on emergence fro m anesthesia with propofol in elective surgery Materials & Methods : In a clinical trial studying that was perforemd in anesthesiology departemn...
متن کاملResponse of the cerebral circulation in baboons to changing perfusion pressure after indomethacin.
An earlier study has demonstrated that indomethacin, a prostaglandin synthesis inhibitor, blocks the cerebrovascular response to hypercapnia. This response is believed to be mediated by a lowering of pH in the cerebral interstitial fluid. Should autoregulation of cerebral blood flow (CBF) to changing perfusion pressure also be mediated by a changing interstitial pH (the "metabolic" theory), the...

We studied the response of cerebral blood flow to acute step decreases in arterial blood pressure noninvasively and nonpharmacologically in 10 normal volunteers during normocapnia, hypocapnia, and hypercapnia. The step (approximately 20 mm Hg) was induced by rapidly deflating thigh blood pressure cuffs following a 2-minute inflation above systolic blood pressure. Instantaneous arterial blood pr...
